What it is

Zhourat is a traditional Syrian herbal infusion made from a fragrant combination of dried flowers, leaves, and herbs. Closely associated with Damascus and the surrounding countryside, it reflects Syria's longstanding tradition of preparing aromatic herbal blends for everyday enjoyment and hospitality.

The blend is appreciated for its floral fragrance, gentle herbal character, and comforting warmth. Unlike conventional black or green tea, a herbal infusion made entirely from caffeine-free flowers and herbs contains no naturally occurring caffeine.

Every Zhourat blend can differ depending on its ingredients and proportions, giving each mixture its own aroma, flavour, and character. This Damascus herbal tea offers an opportunity to discover a familiar part of Syrian food culture through a simple, everyday ritual.

A little background

Herbal infusions have a long history across the Middle East, where flowers, leaves, and aromatic herbs are commonly prepared as warm drinks and shared with family and guests.

In Syria, offering tea and herbal infusions is closely connected with hospitality and social life. A warm cup can accompany a conversation, welcome a visitor, or provide a quiet moment during the day.

Zhourat is enjoyed in different forms across the region, with blends varying from household to household and from one producer to another. Its name is associated with flowers, reflecting the fragrant floral character of many traditional mixtures.

Our Zhourat comes from Damascus, Syria, connecting this product to the country's rich culinary and cultural heritage.
